Peter Thomson

Biography

Peter was born in Dundee and
studied piano and singing at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and
Drama. He has performed throughout Britain in all the major opera
houses. For Scottish Opera's touring company "Opera Go Round", he
performed the roles of Escamillo and Marcello (La Boheme)
and Tonio (I Pagliacci). He has also performed the
role of Dr. Bartolo (Barber of Seville) and Dan Cairo
(Carmen) with the main company. He sang at Covent
Garden in The Vanishing Bridegroom, which was
televised for the BBC. His music theatre experience includes the
role of Baritone 1 (Martyrdom of St. Magnus) which has
gained acclaim with its release on compact disc. Peter also appeared
in the successful world premier of the opera Tornrak
at the Banff Arts Centre in Canada.
Peter enjoys an active
concert career which includes appearances in Elijah,
Dream of Gerontius, Mozart's Requiem,
Haydn's Creation and Rossini's Stabat Mater.
He now lives and works in Edinburgh, performing much of the
lighter baritone repertoire at dinners and social occasions.
