Robert McAlpine

Robert McAlpine graduated from Edinburgh University with honours in Music. At university he won scholarships to study conducting in London and, secondly in Dublin with James Furst and the New Irish Chamber Orchestra. Robert has been Assistant Musical Director and Chorus Master of Edinburgh Grand Opera and Assistant Music Director for Edinburgh Music Theatre. Robert was a Lay Clerk in the choir at St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh from 1983 until 1992 when he moved to Glasgow. He founded the Glasgow Chamber Choir in 1994 and is a regular performer with Capella Nova, Scotland's only professional a cappella choir. The role of Defendant in Trial by Jury is Robert's debut with the Society.
