Gareth Jacobs

It was in Toronto, where he lived for twenty years, that Gareth was first introduced to the world of amateur theatre and to Gilbert & Sullivan in particular.  Since then he has appeared in 55 stage productions, 47 of them G & S.  In the 18 years since his return from Canada, Gareth has performed with the Edinburgh G & S Society with several minor roles to his credit as well as being a regular chorus baritone.

Principal roles have included the Judge in Trial by Jury with the Edinburgh University’s Savoy Group and the Rabbi in Fiddler on the Roof with The Bohemians.  Probably his most adventurous stage experience was when he and his wife Elizabeth performed with the Gilbert & Sullivan International Festival Company on tours to Philadelphia and Berkeley, California in productions of The Sorcerer, Ruddigore and H.M.S. Pinafore with principals of the original D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, including Valerie Masterson, Kenneth Sandford and Gillian Knight.
