"The Yeomen of the Guard"
15 - 19 March 2005

Director: Alan Borthwick          Musical Director: David Liston Lyle
Assistant Director: Liz Landsman

In a spectacular setting depicting the Tower of London we were entertained to a truly tip top production. Perfection and precision were the order of the day. From the opening moments of Phoebe (Fiona Main) singing 'When a Maiden Loves', through the comedy and strong performance of Shadbolt (Ian Lawson) combined with the touching moments given by Jack Point (Scott Thompson) the evening flew by. The large male chorus of Beefeaters added power and spectacle to this show, whilst the ladies of the chorus brought softness and light throughout the evening. Neil French, as Colonel Fairfax, gave a performance that could have graced the stage of any professional production. The minor principals added some high quality performances. The production by Alan Borthwick flowed along at a great pace, whilst the musical direction from David Lyle and the playing of his orchestra were also of a very high standard.
